Beautiful Wedding!

My brother has a wife! :)

The wedding was beautiful, the jewelery that Jenny made to go with the bridesmaid's dresses was amazing and I must say, everyone looked gorgeous-- but Jenny herself was stunning! :) The decor turned out to be just fantastic and the location was perfect. With the exception of a few close-calls with my biggest fear (bees!) the outdoor wedding was a wonderful thing! And the reception afterwards was a blast. Gotta love dancing until the wee hours! and luckily I had a headsup and was able to avoid my brother's friend who was bragging about trying to "get on" me. How rude.

Anyhow, yeah it was good. I'm so happy that it was as great as it was. And seeing extended family is always such a special thing. I feel so blessed to have such great family in my life.

in other news, the wedding meant I had a few days off work but that also will probably translate into a much smaller paycheck... eh well, well worth it! and since the wedding, I've been working like every day again so that'll help. I'm really getting tired of work and the semester hasn't even started that's not good. Also disappointed because I'll be missing the first football game of the season in order to work. yes, work. how annoying.

what else is new? My stint as Fundraising Coordinator on the Executive Board of IBSA/Rotaract is getting started, the first E-team meeting was the other day and I made what I would like to consider a pretty killer salsa for it! :) we had to bring food and I had all sorts of delicious fresh veggies from my dad's garden--so I chopped it all up and made a salsa and was quite impressed with my first creation! :) Fresh veggies can make anything good though, I guess!

I can't believe school starts so soon. Textbooks have been purchased for the bargain price of like $300 and this weekend will be "school-shopping" weekend for me. I need all the fun things like notebooks and whatnot, and I need a pair of brown and a pair of black shoes seeing as the only shoes I really own are flipflops and a pair of tennis shoes. Not so well-stocked on shoes as EmLee. ;-)

Last night there was a giant centipede thing in my room. I flipped out but killed it eventually because the alternative, letting it live to crawl all over me in my sleep was just unbearable. I just keep telling myself that centipedes are like dogs-- territorial and unlikely to let other centipedes be around, so there won't be others for a while until they figure out this one is gone and can't defend his territory anymore. Thank you to the Lighthouse Program for helping me develop an imagination that can get me through these types of things. :)

So I need to sleep since I work again tomorrow. Shall be fun, I am quite certain.

Moving done.... settling begun...

That rhymes.

So, the title of this blog about says it all. In spite of working 8 hours friday and saturday and monday and tuesday and part of Wednesday--I'm all moved in, sort of. Love the new place, but then--what wouldn't be better than that dump on Spring St I called home last year... big power-plant/coal pile place that makes lots of noise, cockroaches, mice, bathroom the size of HALF of a closet, kitchen the size of a closet and released-sex-offender halfway house diagonally across the street... what WOULDN'T beat that?? but seriously, the new place is great, spacious, relatively clean when we moved in and now just FINE (we got a $150 rent credit for doing our own cleaning!!) and plus I get my own ROOM!! Ah, it's heaven... well, it will be once I get a bed and don't have to sleep on the futon in the living room... but yes, I'm content in our new place! :)

And tomorrow is a Ludo show-- so yay for rocking out with the girls to good (hilarious) music!!

Other than moving there's not a whole lot to be mentioned. Lots of work has been going on lately in my world, almost got overtime a week ago even... (not sure yet if I did, I didn't add up the hours yet) The Fluno has been ridiculously busy lately...

I picked up my dress for my brother's wedding yesterday afternoon and while the alterations that they had to make were done ok, I liked it better before--they had to hem it up shorter to like 3" below the knee... and well, I liked it better longer. But as long as it's what Jenny and Jim want-- plus I'm sure it will look beautiful on most of the bridesmaids (most are taller than I)... It is a shame to spend $300 on a dress I'll probably never wear again (especially when I'm a broke student without $300 to spend...) eh well.

Without internet I feel so out of touch! Email is how I keep up-to-date with my responsibilities and such (IBSA, Rep Ambassadorships, International Buddies, etc) and so now being able to just check email easily is annoying... thank goodness cable folks come on the 24th!!

well I should run to buy tickets for the concert tomorrow night--the ladies are counting on me! :)

my worst nightmare

I just had the worst dream of my life I think. *(and I once dreamed that my entire family was killed and the guy was coming after me!)

I am a little fuzzy still on some of the details... but I had just gotten "another" letter telling me that I needed to appear because I'd been found guilty of murder a long time ago. So, for some reason there was a hearing type thing (it was in a classroom) about the case with everyone ever involved, so there were tons of people my age... like that I knew back in the day when I apparently committed this murder. But the problem was, I was innocent. And like everyone knew. And the cop who was there knew I was innocent too, but it was like, no one could do anything about it. I was going to be going to prison for life, regardless. And everyone kind of KNEW I was innocent but didn't really seem to care. And the judge too. (The judge for some reason had the power of saying I could either go free or go to jail, this wasn't the most technically accurate dream ever) So it was decided that was going to go to jail and so I started sobbing and then the sort of strange thought came to me that I'd been wasting money on college tuition for the past little while because the education was worthless in jail! But mainly I just was sobbing and protesting, claiming innocence.

So then I woke up and it took me like 10 minutes to feel normal again. That was seriously one of the scariest dreams I've ever had because it felt too real. The feelings I was having, of panic and fear and sadness and squelched hopes, those feelings were so REAL... very disturbing.

I love the terrace!!

the beginning of the week is pretty much ok... lots of work this week but you know that means I will be able to pay rent/bills so it's cool.

Interesting conversation with my girl, Mary last night... She said I made her aware of something about herself for the first time--and I wasn't even really trying for that! Anyway, as always, rather stimulating chitchat... guess talking to someonee with a pretty good intellect will lean towards being deeper just naturally.

And this good conversation happened whilst enjoying the pleasure of Babcock Ice Cream at the terrace: try the Rootbeer Float flavor, YUM!

Work sorta stinks... my back and feet hurt every day and I get so tired of getting up to BE there by 6am every day... but hey, it's money and I do like those I work with so I guess I can swallow the bad with the good.

Today I cleaned our shower. And it took me more than 2 hours. Just for the shower. And it is still not completely clean. I don't know if it's been cleaned decently once since before I left for Paris. It was GROSS. There was about 1mm of soap scum on the edge/floor from where one of my roommate's bars of soap has been dripping down all year. Seriously 1mm, I am not exaggerating, if I were gonna exaggerate I would've said 3 inches. but 1mm is pretty darn thick for soap scum. really disgusting. But now it's pretty clean... and once I buy another bottle of Kaboom *IT WORKS!* I will finish up. And that will be my contribution to cleaning before the move...

So I'll leave you with this thought, "fresh goes better, mentos freshness, fresh goes better, with mentos fresh and full of life. Mentos. the freshmaker." (and don't forget to picture the cheesy smiles)

Monday Monday...

Another week begins...

the weekend was good, refreshing--I didn't work at all! :)

Thursday early I headed home for the eye dr. appt I had-- and I still have wierd eyes. The dr even said I am like one of three patients that he sees with vision like mine. it's bad, but good. if that makes sense--they eyes balance each other out and the main idea is that I will not even need reading glasses until I'm like 60-65! I like that!

Lazy night in thursday and kind of a lazy day friday until I met up with Jenny and Chris for the movies-- "The Island" is disturbing but I actually liked it a ton. I'd recommend it, about 3 stars maybe from me, and plus Ewan is in it, and Scarlett! so see it, if you want to.

Then saw an even more disturbing movie, Constantine. I guess it was ok, I ended up falling asleep on the couch in the middle of it but I woke up for the end and have to say I was relatively unimpressed. Plus, Keanu Reeves stars in it. Do I have to elaborate?

Saturday night I was back in Madtown to see Anna while she was in town! fun night all around, the highlight being when Anna and I tried to convince our other friend to go tell the cute punk boy at Wandos "there aren't many cute guys out tonight, but you're one of them"... and then the cute punk boy stood and she wasn't a cute punk boy at all...

Sunday was SHOPPING with my sister for wedding shoes-- and it went well!! We both got shoes we are happy with, and I also got a pair of jeans for $10!! That is nearly impossible but I did it and they were originally $98. how's that for a deal? and I saw age discrimination in effect totally-- when we were at the Steve Madden store in Mayfair, my sister was standing waiting for help with a shoe in her hand for like 7 minutes and eventually was about to give up- I took the shoe and in like 30 seconds someone came up to ask if I wanted to try it. Apparently my sister is too old and not quite hip enough for Steve Madden. Funny thing, she bought the shoes.

After shopping I had to race backto madison to get to Blackhawk on time, and was still like 10 minutes late. I was so paranoid about getting a ticket... ever since Virginia I can't bring myself to speed that much on freeways, which stinks since I go home so much!!

Post-church it was movie night with my girl and one of her friends. I had a really good time! And I got chinese takeout which I hadn't had in AGES so I was smilin'. Made it difficult to work this morning at 6 when I sisn't leave there until like 1 but hey,it's cool I just spent the day at work laughing at things that weren't funny until I was almost crying. And now I'll sleep.
